Get ready for another thrilling year of fishing events in 2025 with Danglers Fishing Club! Whether you’re a dedicated angler or just starting out, our family-friendly fishing club offers an exciting mix of trips, competitions, and workshops to keep you hooked all year long.

From the tranquil waters of Western Port Bay to the thrill of surf fishing on Victoria’s coastline, this year’s events will give you the chance to cast a line, learn from fellow anglers, and reel in some unforgettable catches. So, grab your gear and mark your calendars—here’s what’s in store!

February – Kicking Off at Western Por

We’re starting the year with a favourite among angling clubs in Victoria—Western Port! Known for its abundant marine life, this spot is a dream for anglers hoping to catch snapper, gummy sharks, and flathead. Whether you’re looking to test your skills or just enjoy a relaxing day on the water, Western Port Bay, Victoria, is the perfect place to kick things off.

For those who haven’t fished here before, don’t worry—we’ll have experienced members on hand to share tips on bait selection, tackle, and the best spots to cast. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow anglers while enjoying a great day of fishing.

March – Marlo Away Trip: Friendly Competition Meets Scenic Fishing

March takes us on a road trip to the stunning Marlo estuary, where the Snowy River meets the sea. This annual trip is a club favourite and includes a friendly bream competition on Saturday

and a surf fishing contest on Sunday. With plenty of bream, flathead, and trevally around, it’s a great mix of competition and relaxation.

The best part? You don’t have to be a pro to join in! It’s all about the experience, the camaraderie, and the excitement of the catch. Evenings are spent sharing fishing tales around the campfire, so expect plenty of laughs and maybe a few legendary stories about “the one that got away.”

June – Winter Fishing in Nelson, Victoria

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean we stop fishing! In June, we head to Nelson, Victoria, home to the stunning Glenelg River, where we’ll be targeting mulloway, bream, and perch.

Fishing in winter is a unique challenge, but it also brings some of the best catches of the year. So, grab your warmest gear, a thermos of coffee, and let’s make the most of the cooler months. This trip is perfect for those looking to refine their river fishing skills while enjoying the breathtaking landscapes Nelson has to offer.

July – Surf Fishing Extravaganza

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of surf fishing. The sound of the waves, the anticipation of a bite, and the excitement when your rod suddenly bends under the weight of a fighting salmon—it’s an experience every angler should have!

This action-packed event is all about embracing the wild side of fishing, so be prepared for a challenge! Whether you’re chasing salmon, tailor, or even gummy sharks, this is one of the most exciting fishing activities of the year.

October – The Snapper Season Begins!

As the weather warms up, we head into one of the most anticipated events of the year—snapper season!

October is prime time for snapper fishing, and Western Port Bay and Port Phillip Bay come alive with massive early-season fish. Whether you’re a dedicated snapper angler or just keen to give it a go, this is the perfect time to get on the water and experience the excitement of landing a big one.
