This year, the 29th Presentation Night lived up to its reputation as a joyous celebration of community, achievements, and shared passion for fishing. Held at the Carrington Leisure Centre, it brought together members, families, and supporters to reflect on the successes of the year and honour those who make the club a thriving part of the community.

The Unforgettable Highlights of Danglers Fishing Club’s Annual Presentation Night

The 29th Danglers Fishing Annual Event was nothing short of memorable. Marcel Johnson, who served as MC, began the evening with a moving Acknowledgement of Country, paying respects to the traditional custodians of the land and setting the tone for a night of unity and gratitude. This significant gesture reflected the respect and inclusivity at the heart of the club’s values.

The Chairman’s address was another key moment, highlighting the contributions of every member and expressing gratitude for the Victorian Fisheries Authority’s generous support. The VFA grant has played a significant role in enabling the club to grow and offer more opportunities for members to enjoy fishing, whether it’s in Mornington Peninsula, Western Port Bay Victoria, or casting a line in the iconic Port Phillip Bay.

The awards presentation itself was a testament to the talent and dedication within the club. The event featured awards recognising individuals for their achievements. See below for a list of away winners;

Community, Family, and Tradition: The Heart of Angling Clubs in Melbourne

What sets our angling club in Melbourne apart is the desire to bring people together through shared experiences. This year’s Presentation Night was a shining example of this spirit. From the youngest attendees to the seasoned anglers, everyone played a role in making the evening unforgettable.

One particularly heartwarming moment was the presentation of custom Danglers drink bottles to the children of club members. The look of joy on their faces spoke volumes about the club’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging across generations. By involving kids in events like this, the Danglers Fishing Club ensures that a love for fishing will continue to thrive in years to come.

The evening also marked farewells and milestones that reminded attendees of the club’s rich history and enduring legacy. Founding member Dave, who is moving interstate, was honoured with a life membership and a framed shirt signed by members past and present. Similarly, Don’s retirement was celebrated with another well-deserved life membership. Moments like these are a testament to the strong bonds, of friendship and community that define the club.
